The DCCT Study proved that diabetes control does make a difference in Type 1
patients can lower their blood sugar and glycohemoglobin, and keep them down for years
tighter control dramatically decreases the rate of microvascular complications (eyes, nerves, and kidneys)
but . . . tighter control increases the risk of severe hypoglycemia
