Should I add Glucerna to my diet?

Question: I keep hearing about Glucerna. Is it something I should consider adding to my diet?

Answer: You can't beat Glucerna for convenience, and a lot of my patients do like it. It's important to see how it fits into your meal plan, however. You still need to count the carbohydrates and be aware of its calories, fats etc. For example, you can drink the snack shake for 140 calories and 19 grams of carbohydrate. Or you could have cottage cheese and berries, reduced-fat cheese and whole grain crackers, hummus and veggies or any number of other, more-wholesome foods. If you find that you like it, keep a few on hand for emergencies -- for those times when you forgot your lunch or when dinner will be late or for some other time that you're hungry without good choices in front of you.
