HOW I BEAT DIABETES
By Taking Mineral Supplements
In August of 1992 I was diagnosed with Diabetes type II. I took oral
medication and insulin until July of 1996 when I discovered that a dose of
chromium that I had taken caused my sugar level to decrease by about 50
points. It was at a meeting sponsored by a neutriceutical [sic] company, where a
new Hi Tech method of nutrient delivery was being introduced. It was the
new oral mineral supplement sprays. After discovering the positive effects
on my sugar level, I joined the company, becoming an independent
distributor, because they have 10 wonderful products and a great multilevel
marketing plan
[Anytime a
Multilevel Marketing Plan (MLM)
is involved, watch out! The people who are in MLM's have
been scammed into buying a distributorship, and they want to scam you!

Pancreas Formula
PANCREAS FORMULA™ is formulated with a unique combination of specific
nutrients that nutritionally
support the pancreas. It contains herbs, enzymes, vitamins and
minerals for their synergistic effects. Because
it is responsible for producing enzymes and plays the major role in
carbohydrate metabolism in the body, the
pancreas is very important. Pancreatic enzymes are used for digestion
and insulin regulates our blood sugar
levels. Individuals with known hypoglycemia and diabetes have trouble
with their pancreas glands producing
needed insulin sufficiently. Dietary and other forms of stress, plus
the long-term eating of larger amounts of
foods, can cause malfunctions of the pancreas. Not only is Zinc needed
for the pancreas to produce insulin, it
is actually a component of insulin. Chromium is necessary for insulin
to do its job.
[The author seems to deliberately confuse the exocrine function (manufacturing digestive enzymes)
and the endocrine function (making insulin and
other hormones) of the pancreas.]

Neem - The Ultimate Herb
Diabetes - Oral doses of neem leaf extracts reduced insulin requirements by
between 30% and 50% for nonkeytonic, insulin fast
and insulin-sensitive diabetes.
[This author doesn't know how to spell nonketotic, and invents a new term ("insulin fast").]
Neem and Diabetes:
Diabetes is an incurable, chronic metabolic disorder that develops when the
pancreas can no longer produce sufficient insulin.
Blood sugar levels rapidly elevate yet the body is unable to use the energy
contained in the sugar leading to weakness and
eventually unconsciousness. Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in
people ages 25 to 74, damages nerves, kidneys, the heart
and blood vessels and may result in the amputation of limbs.
Neem leaf is a traditional herb for treating diabetes and has been
scientifically proven effective in treating and preventing diabetes.
Oral doses of neem leaf extracts significantly reduced insulin requirements
for non-insulin dependent diabetes. Neem oil has also
proven effective and has been able to inhibit increases in blood sugar
levels by as much as 45% in test animals.
Capsules containing neem and a number of other herbs are currently available
in many countries for the treatment of diabetes. In
tests to verify the effectiveness of the medication (Karnim) it was found
blood sugar was lowered by over 50% in twenty weeks and
maintained thereafter.
Neem leaf extracts have been shown to reduce insulin requirements of
diabetics without apparent effect on blood glucose levels.
[This claim doesn't make any sense to me: how can insulin requirements change without affecting blood sugar levels?]
Different studies show insulin requirement reductions of between 20 percent
and 50 percent for those who take five grams of dried
neem leaf capsules. There are even anecdotal reports of diabetics chewing a
single neem leaf daily that have been able to eliminate
insulin injections completely.
[Any obese Type 2 who loses weight stands a fair chance of getting off insulin, even without
wasting money on leaf extracts.]
Based on the many studies of neem's effects on insulin requirements, the
Indian government has approved the sale by pharmaceutical companies of neem
tablets for diabetics.

National Institutes of Health: Office of Alternative Medicine
Even the usually highly-respected NIH is supporting nonstandard therapy,
at their Office of Alternative Medicine (OAM):
"Imagery has been successfully tested as a strategy for alleviating nausea
and vomiting associated with chemotherapy in cancer patients, to relieve
stress, and to facilitate weight gain in cancer patients. It has been
successfully used and tested for pain control in a variety of settings; as
adjunctive therapy for several diseases, including diabetes; and with
geriatric patients to enhance immunity." [Adjunctive therapy for
diabetes? Where's the data?]
"...Hypnosis is, however, most frequently used in more common ailments,
either independently or in concert with other treatment, including the
management of pain in a variety of settings, reduction of bleeding in
hemophiliacs, stabilization of blood sugar in diabetics, reduction in
severity of attacks of hay fever and asthma, increased breast size, the cure
of warts, the production of skin blister and bruises, and control of
reaction to allergies such as poison ivy and certain foods." [Hyponosis
for stablization of blood sugar? Come on, give me a break! Where's the
data?]
"Disclaimer: The NIH cautions users not to seek the therapies described on
these pages without the consultation of a licensed health care provider.
Inclusion of a treatment or resource on the OAM Web site does not imply
endorsement by the OAM, the NIH, or the Department of Health and Human
Services (DHHS)." [Nice disclaimer, guys: You ain't responsible for this
stuff... but you'll put it out within a US Governmental website...]

Homeopathy
"The Natural Alternative" Page
"Aspirin was a homeopathic called "Willow Bark" and Digitalis was a
homeopathic call "Quinine" Natural remedies have been around for thousands
of years. Their use had been restricted to "The Medicine Men" and evenually
to the "Physician". Many of the drug we use today started as homeopathics
and where known to aid in certain diseases. Over the last 150 years, " the
Drug Company" has refine and processed the homeopathics into expensive drugs."
[This author makes two major errors here. He doesn't understand the
concepts of homeopathy (or I don't): Homeopathy, I thought, was using minute
quantities of a substance to treat disease; this author seems to say that
herbal products with substantial amounts of active ingredients (such as willow bark) that have been developed into
pharmaceuticals qualify as homeopathics. And digitalis originated from
foxglove, not from quinine.]
"All natural products that uses fiber can be used to decrease fat absorbsion
and slow the need for insulin. Thereby, inproving diabetes and lowering
blood pressure."
[Now he's claiming that products that include fiber should be touted on a
webpage that alledges to concern homeopathy. He's switched the subject!]

Introduces All-Natural Sweetener
I recently received an unsolicited e-mail (spam) that promoted this product.
At their website, they claim that
"Ki-Sweet(TM), an all- natural sweetener made from kiwi
fruit...
is the first product of its kind made from
kiwi fruit. It offers healthier benefits over the widely-used glucose and
sucrose-based sweeteners. Most natural sweeteners on the
market today are made from high- glycemic ingredients, and the artificial
sweeteners can contain chemicals and other substances.
Ki-Sweet(TM) is made from 100% natural kiwi fruit with no additives or
preservatives. It is low glycemic; it does not
significantly elevate blood sugar or insulin levels, making it safe for
diabetics,
hypoglycemics, pregnant or lactating mothers, and children.
...Ki-Sweet(TM) carries the Seal of Approval from the
Glycemic Research Institute as well as a special
designation from the American Diabetes Association."
[I wrote to the American Diabetes Association about this statement, and
received a reply that stated this claim of a "special designation" simply isn't true.]
[August 11, 1998]
[Further information received from the Glycemic Research Institute
indicates that the reference that was made to "a special designation by the
ADA" was incorrectly made, independent of the product manufacturer's
knowledge. The website for this product was http://www.ekisweet.com (website unavailable 20Oct2004.) Added April 2, 2002.].

We received an unsolicited e-mail on October 19, 2002, from "Doctor Ho Wing" that read as follows:

Before your doctor start to cut your foot and hand, please call ! let me save your life !
[Curiosity led me to search the Internet for anything reflecting Dr. Wing's capabilities. The following website seems to be the only discussion.
At
EL Rincón de la Polémica, which is in Spanish, there's a page entitled
El Dr. Ho Wing
y la cura de la diabetes (Dr. Ho Wing
and the cure of diabetes). It seems that others have questioned his methods, and he has not responded adequately. A rough translation of the conclusion of the article is as follows.]
Of all the repercussions, one letter stands out: it was sent to Ho Wing by Dr Alberto Alvarez Melero, diabetólogist, Director of Metabolism of Clinical Santa Clarita of the English Hospital of the Northwest (Tijuana, Mexico):
"To dare to say that there is a diabetes cure, when we have nothing to judge it scientifically... is not an easy task. Therefore I respectfully request to Dr Ho Wing to please send his scientific studies on the matter to me. I promise him to be impartial and to put in the scientific balance his experimental results and methods.
If there is the ability to reproduce these resultes in a laboratory approved by the world-wide scientific community and to be certain of the observations, I will be first in writing to the Karolinska Institute so that it is evaluated for him to receive the Nobel prize".

We received an unsolicited e-mail on November 24, 2002,
that read as follows:
Hello Friends,
I'm sending this letter to my entire email list because I'm so excited
about an article that was sent to me about a new product that has just been
developed for Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and High Cholesterol.
It's working MIRACLES!!!
...
The Manufacturers of Glucotor Are So Sure of This Product
They Are Offering a 90 Day 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.
...
But someone wrote to the website, and got the following answer:
Question:
Dear Healing America: I have a friend and her son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 3 years old. Now he is 12 I think and on daily insulin shots. I listen to the training call last night and I know that the Glucotor helps people with type 2 diabetes but could it help someone with type 1 also? At least to control his blood sugar so that he didn't have to be on insulin or at least cut back on his shots. Or can this in any way help someone with type 1 diabetes if so in what way and what would the dosage be? This is really someone I would love to help out so thank you for your time. Tina
Answer:
So far we haven't attempted to try it on a Type1. The reason being the medical doctors on board say that it won't work for a type 1. The guarntee wouldn't apply to a Type 1.
They need to go into it knowing it probably won't work BUT who knows.
[Hmm. Interesting guarantee. If you have type 1 diabetes, they will encourage you to buy the stuff,
"knowing it probably won't work", but they won't give you your money back if
it doesn't work!]
