Question

I would like to know what the normal blood sugar level is supposed to be for children. I checked my daughter's blood sugar with my meter, and it said 100. I was wanting to find out what is high for children. This was 2 hours after she ate. There is diabetes on both sides of our family.

Answer

A blood sugar of 100 mg/dl (5.6 mmol/L) two hours after eating is perfectly normal. If you are concerned, I would just watch your daughter for signs of increased thirst, increased urination, changes in growth pattern, etc.
