Question

I have been on a new drug for two months and still have high readings (200-350 mg/dL [11.1-19.4 mmol/L]) daily. I have lost at least 12 pounds by not wanting to eat as much as before, the change in my medicine and the way I take or took the insulin. I am taking 10 units of insulin at night only. My doctor said to give it a few months to make the change over. Has anyone else been having trouble with high readings this long and being very dehydrated with blurry vision more so now?

Answer

Your values are way too high. You should see your doctor as soon as possible. This means in days, not weeks or months. If your doctor's office is unable to schedule an appointment, ask for a referral to a specialist or go to an Emergency Room or Urgent Care Clinic.
