Question
I have a problem with my glucose meter which I bought from the United Kingdom, but I didn't pay attention to it. It gives you measurements in mmol/L, but I want it to give it to me in mg/dL as we used to deal with these units here in Algeria. How can I convert from mmol/L to mg/dL?Answer
Several thoughts:- Most meters will read in both mmol/L and mg/dL. If you look in the manual that came with your meter, you should be able to find out how to change this parameter.
- If you cannot locate this function in your meter, call the number on the back of the meter. The customer service representative will talk you though it.
- See: Diabetes Monitor - blood-glucose unit converter.
- If all else fails, multiply the value in mmol/L by 18 to get the reading in mg/dL.
