currently work for IBM and my 10 year old son, Zachary, has
type 1 diabetes
and is using an
insulin pump.
Zachary was originally diagnosed
when he was 1 1/2 years old.
The annual IBM United Way campaign will be starting in September. Most
IBM'ers are not aware that they can direct their United Way payroll
deduction to a specific organization instead of United Way determining
how their contribution is spent.
Any IBM'er in any state can direct their payroll deduction to any listed
organization in any other state. Instructions on how to direct payroll
deduction are available to all IBM'ers in all states.
I have been able to have
JDF
and the
Diabetes Research
Institute
(DRI) in Miami listed as an eligible organizations in the
annual IBM campaign for organizations in the state of Florida. I
have noticed that JDF is also listed as an eligible organization
for other states as well.
I am suggesting the following:
- Notify your membership that if they work for IBM or have friends or
relatives that work IBM this option is available to them. I suggest a
broadcast email to achieve this.
- If you have a website, post this notice on the website.
Last year the IBM'ers in South Florida directed $16,000 to DRI and $5,000
dollars to the JDF.
If you have a question please feel free to contact me.
Thanks...Jeffry
