Question
Can I take phentermine with Glucophage as part of a diet and exercise program?
Answer
According to one manufacturer's
label
for phentermine,
it is indicated as a short-term (a few weeks) adjunct in a regimen of weight
reduction based on exercise, behavioral modification and caloric restriction in the management of exogenous obesity
for patients with an initial body mass index >30 kg/m2, or >27 kg/m2 in the presence of other risk factors (e.g.,
hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia).
The
Glucophage
label
doesn't mention a drug interaction with phentermine.
So, in general, it looks like phentermine might be okay for
short-term use in people taking
metformin
(depending on other health factors that your doctor would be aware of).
However, you should discuss the whole idea with your
doctor, and get your prescription from your physician if he/she feels it's worth a try.
And don't buy the phentermine from an Internet pharmacy unless your doctor has agreed and signed a prescription.
