Question
I am 21 years old, married, and I was just diagnosed with
type 2 diabetes
two months ago.
I was on all these meds, but it got too expensive for me, and I
have given up.
I know my health should be the only thing that
matters, but it takes a whole lot of money to be healthy. I have gotten
upset that I came to the conclusion that this disease is too expensive for
me. Do you know of anywhere I can get financial help?
Answer
At the age of 21 you have your whole life ahead of you. It must seem like
an overwhelming burden to face a chronic diseases such a young age of the
consequences of untreated diabetes are enormous.
There are many drug assistance programs available to help you. I think some
good education sessions with a Certified Diabetes
Educator to help you understand the risks you are taking by stopping
treatment would be beneficial.
