Question

My obese sister-in-law says that she has both diabetes and hypoglycemia. Is this possible?

Answer

Yes, in a sense. If she has diabetes and is on medications that might provoke hypoglycemia, she can have both diabetes (high blood sugar) and treatment-related hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Of course, it is not desireable to have hypoglycemia, so if it's occurring regularly, her treatment plan should be revised.
