Question

My doctor wanted me to try Byetta to see if would help me lose weight. However I can't take it because it made me very ill, and my blood sugar got so low I did not know who I was or where I was. If my husband had not been home, I mostly would be dead. When he found me and I was standing in front of the refrigerator with the door open. He tried talking to me about my words were so slurred. I did not make any sense at all. He got me some orange juice and led me back to bed. At 3:00 am, I was better and check my blood sugar. It was 41 mg/dL [2.3 mmol/L] so I checked it again at 5:00 am, and it was 37 mg/dL [2.1 mmol/L]. I surely had a bad day. I'd tried it again a couple of days later in the morning, but I was so sick to my stomach. I lost my breakfast and did not feel well the rest of the day. Has anyone else had this problem?

Answer

You should call your physician immediately and ask what to do until your next appointment.

Also, you could discuss your problem with other knowledgeable folks at the Byetta Discussion Forum at Diabetes.Blog.com.
