Question

I have a four year old son with type 1 diabetes, and I would like some information about inhaled insulin. Can my son use it?

Answer

Exubera (inhaled insulin) is not approved for use in children because it has not been sufficiently studied to fully understand its safety in this age group. Although many times products are used "off-label" (that is, in a situation that does not have approval), I would strongly advise that you do not try to persuade your physician to prescribe it for your child.
