Question

I am a student pursuing my bachelor's degree in sociology, and I was hoping you could suggest the most beneficial degree to take to become a diabetes educator. The education requirements include: social work, clinical psychology, and RN. Is one degree more highly accredited than another? Would getting my RN through an accelerated program be the best thing for me?

Answer

I would support the accelerated RN degree as the best option. For social work and clinical psychology, you will be required to hold a Masters Degree, at the very least, in order to sit for the Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) exam. Please check out the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators website to understand the requirements in detail.
