Question

I have had type 1 diabetes for almost 14 years, and I am restricted to Humulin R and Humulin N due to dangerous reactions to all other available types of insulin. I want to know what insulin will be covered by the inhaler. My doctor said to find out any information I could on this since I might benefit better from this rather than the shots.

Answer

Exubera (inhaled insulin) is Regular (R) insulin that would be used instead of your shots of R. You would still need basal insulin (such as your N).

Please ask your physician to contact Pfizer's Medical Information Services for additional details.
