Question

I have all of the symptoms of diabetes, and I am wondering what would happen if I had a load of sugar and do have it. A few days ago, I had a glass of cola (which contained a fair amount of sugar), and I started burning up, sweating, feeling ill, and I had a throbbing headache. Should I go to the doctor and be checked out?

Answer

If you have the symptoms of diabetes, you ought to be evaluated by a physician. Consuming large amounts of sugar (such as in cola) could lead to a life-threatening situation called diabetic ketoacidosis if your blood sugar is already too high.

Please see your doctor as soon as possible.
