Question

My 32 year old husband was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes along with high blood pressure, and is taking medication right now. Is it safe to get pregnant? Will it be a problem to get pregnant?

Answer

I assume that your question is about if your husband's medical conditions and the medications that he is taking will affect a future pregnancy for yourself. None of these drugs will be passed to an embryo from your husband. Therefore, they do not represent a direct risk to a pregnancy. The only issue may be if they have any effects on sperm production or function. I am not aware that any of these medications do so. Thus, it seems reasonable for you to try for a pregnancy.
