Question

I'm 18 years old, and I'm wondering if I could have hypoglycemia. I feel really tired and unable to cocnentrate in school each day (at about 10:00 am and 3:00 pm) and also in the evening. I don't eat snacks but eat three balanced meals a day. I know a lot of people who eat just three meals per day, and they say it's not normal for me to be hungry at those times when they're not. When I'm hungry at these times, I crave anything (most of the time proteins or sugar), and if I eat eat, I feel great afterward I feel so weak and confused that this one time I was watching a video in class which showed blood and I almost passed out when normally blood doesn't disgust me at all. I feel weird. I also have strong headaches, feel moody and if I eat, I feel great for an hour or two. Afterwards, it's starting all over again and even more rapidly if I eat a lot of carbs in a meal. I feel sleeply about an hour after eating. It's like a cycle that never ends.

My family find it weird that I'm almost hungry all the time (I have a weird feeling in the stomach). I'm almost always hungry. I have weight problems but not too much. When eating a meal, I know when I'm not hungry anymore so I stop eating, but after an or two hour after a meal, I'm hungry again for real. If I don't eat, I feel really weird, have an headache, really tired, dizzy and feel like vomiting and I have to eat to make those symptoms disappear. It is normal to experience those feelings when you're hungry? What's happening?

Answer

Yes, you might have hypoglycemia. Or you might have lots of other things. You will need evaluation by a physician.
