Individuals with diabetes also face opportunity costs. These are costs that are encountered when a person has to make a decision to do one task rather than another task. For example, a cost is involved when a person makes the decision that they n eed life insurance. They must then spend time and money on this item that could otherwise have been spent on something else. This slide indicates some, but not all, of the areas where persons with diabetes face decisions regarding their lives that other individuals do not.
