Our policy for adding links to other websites at the
DiabetesMonitor
- Websites that are diabetes-related, factual, and impartial, in the opinions of the Editors of the
DiabetesMonitor , will be added at diabetes on the web or elsewhere as deemed appropriate.Priority will be given to websites that display the
HONcode logo. - Reciprocal Links: Most healthcare websites with a bona fide link to the
DiabetesMonitor will, upon request, have a reciprocal link placed in theDiabetesMonitor, at friends.Such links elsewhere should be clearly identifiable as a deliberate addition by the webmaster of that website (e.g., within a listing of diabetes sites) and should not be an automated or "accidental" link (e.g., mentioned in a posting by a third party at another website's bulletin board).
However, in the event that a website makes dubious medical claims, peer-reviewed scientific literature that is catalogued at PubMed (or appropriately controlled clinical trials) will be requested and reviewed prior to our decision about whether we will link to such a website. Any decision to not link to such a website shall be final.
The following types of websites are never appropriate for inclusion at friends:
- Websites that (in the opinion of the Editors) prominently offer legal advice, display listings of trial lawyers, or are sponsored by law firms and/or which appear to solicit plaintiffs for legal action,
- Websites that (in the opinion of the Editors) prominently advertise herbs or other non-FDA regulated concoctions that pretend to treat or cure diabetes or high blood sugar.
- Websites that (in the opinion of the Editors) consist entirely or largely of listings of other websites but do not disclose the author(s) of the website.
Non-healthcare websites will have reciprocal links added at the Editors' discretion.
- Websites may qualify to have more than one link at the
DiabetesMonitor (e.g., if they meet both criteria (1) and (2)). - Whether or not any organization has placed advertising with the
DiabetesMonitor shall not influence the decision whether to place links atDiabetesMonitor except within clearly identified advertisements.
