If your blood
sugar goes too low, you will begin to
feel:
- cold
sweat
- tired
- hungry,
nauseated
- crabby
- nervous
- fast
heart rate
- shaky
- headaches
- confused
- dizzy
- blurred
vision
Low blood
sugar might happen if you:
- Took too
much diabetic medicine.
- Did not
eat enough food.
- Did more
exercise than usual.
What to
do:
- If
possible, test your blood sugar. If it is below
80, take action.
- Drink or
eat something sweet like juice, pop, candy,
etc.
- When you
feel better, eat a sandwich, crackers with
cheese, or peanut butter.
If you can't
test your blood sugar, take action anyway.
However:
- These
symptoms can be caused by other reasons.
- That is
why is is important to check your blood
sugar--to see if a low blood sugar is the cause
of your symptoms.
Note:
If you have
low blood sugar reactions, your medicine may need
to be adjusted.
